City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 15, 2023 from City Faces

This week’s City Face is Sarah Moore. Learn about her, her family and her attachment to Bridgeport below:

I am an attorney and the owner of the law firm Willow Legal Advisors. I’ve lived in Bridgeport for 2 years and worked in the Bridgeport area for 5 years. My husband, Craig, is a police officer with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. I have one amazing son, Benjamin (9), and two amazing stepsons, Dawson (10) and Caspian (7). We also have a goldendoodle, Minnie, and a bernedoodle, Mia.

Tell us how you met your husband..

I was having dinner with some girlfriends at Mia Margherita, and one of them texted Craig during dinner and asked him to stop by to meet me. I was so embarrassed and blushed the entire time. But he was a total gentleman (as always). He asked for my number, and we’ve talked every day since.

Why do you like Bridgeport?

I love the community culture of Bridgeport. There are so many wonderful people that live here and are passionate about making Bridgeport the best place to raise your family and to grow your business.

What's your favorite event here in our city?

Definitely, Light Up Night. I also really look forward to the Derek Hotsinpiller Memorial 5K every year. It’s a tough course, but the organizers make it so much more than a race. It’s turned into a fun family event, and I love supporting and honoring our law enforcement officers.

What about a spot that you frequent?

Our boys are really active, so you can find us at The Bridge Rec Complex at least 5 days each week. Otherwise, we spend most of our time enjoying life at Maple Lake.

Tell us a little more about your work and law firm .
.
I own and work for Willow Legal Advisors. I practice corporate law and estate planning – nothing in the courtroom. I have several private equity clients that I work for daily across the country, but I love my local practice. I serve local businesses by helping them grow – formations, contracts, financing, buying/selling assets, succession planning – and I also help individuals with estate planning. My associate, Daniel, supports these services and does real estate transactions.

What, if any, clubs or organizations are you involved with?

I’m the current President of the Bridgeport Rotary Club and recently joined the Board of the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport.
What are some of your favorite pastimes and hobbies?

I grew up in Lewis County and have lots of wonderful memories around Stonewall Jackson Lake – boating, swimming, hiking and just enjoying the Resort. My brothers and I were active growing up, so life centered around our sporting activities. Now, living at Maple Lake and raising 3 boys, life looks pretty similar, except now I’m the parent!

Tell us about one of your favorite Bridgeport memories.

Fourth of July at Maple Lake is hard to beat. There are relay races for kids, cannon ball competitions for grown-ups, a flag raising ceremony and tons of fireworks – it feels like a summer camp. I have so many memories of my family just laughing and loving the day. The simplicity of it is perfect.

What are your favorite area foods/restaurants?

Oliverio’s and Mia Margherita’s are dinner staples for my family. I also work from Winnie’s and Stone Tower Brews a lot. They both have great coffee, breakfast/lunch options and fast wi-fi!

What tunes are on your playlist?

I usually listen to The Piano Guys while I work, hip-hop when I’m working out and current hits while driving.

What about favorite movies or TV shows? Are you streaming anything now or have recently that you recommend?

For favorite movies, we’ve been replaying old favorites lately – A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire and Good Will Hunting. They are all so good. For shows, we recently finished Ozark and loved it. I’ve been told we need to watch Yellowstone, so I think that’s up next.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’d love to visit the European coastal towns and beaches around the Mediterranean. It looks stunning, and I love the Mediterranean diet. Any vacation that promises good food and sunshine works for me.

What is an interesting tidbit about you?

As part of a volunteer project, I worked on for Lawyers Without Borders a few years ago. I spent some time in Tanzania training its federal wildlife officers on anti-wildlife poaching initiatives (to protect their elephant and rhino populations) that their government adopted with the help of the US State Department. The entire training was conducted in English, which was the third language of the 20 (approximately) Tanzanian trainees. I was the only person there that needed English, and the trainees were 1-2 hours early and stayed 1-2 hours late every single day to study the material in English and prepare for the next part of training. They were so eager and gracious for the opportunity to learn. It was unbelievably humbling.
