City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on October 27, 2019 from City Faces

Meet this week's City Face, Ashley Todd:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
I moved to Bridgeport with my family in 2006 (13 years ago) after growing up in Clarksburg.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
My husband Casey and I just celebrated our three-year wedding anniversary in September.

What about pets?
We have two black pugs Penelope Mae & Tallulah Pearl and a 7 year old Goldfish we call Fishy!

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I’ve worked with children at an after school program for the past 10 years.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
In my free time i enjoy taking day trips and visiting state parks, festivals, and different restaurants.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
My favorite spot in Bridgeport would have to be my neighborhood! It’s so peaceful yet close to everything. I love walking my pugs and admiring all the homes and even some wildlife.

Why do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
I love living in Bridgeport because it is so family oriented, you can tell that the residents and community leaders really take pride in our city.

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
I have made many wonderful memories while living in Bridgeport and i am very into creating traditions. For the past few years we have looked forward to watching the fireworks that are let off around the 4th of July and I always look forward to attending the homecoming parade every fall for that small town feel. Light up Night is always magical, and a couple years ago my mom and I we’re asked to drive my Jeep in the Christmas parade we decorated it as one of Santa’s reindeer and got to drive in front of the fire truck with Santa as if we were pulling his sleigh.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
My favorite spot outside of Bridgeport would definitely have to be Tygart Lake for boating in the summer. The water is always so beautiful. We also frequent Stonewall Jackson Resort often between the lake, activities, and the restaurants we always have fun there.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
One of my favorite places outside of West Virginia would have to be Charleston, South Carolina. I love how alive the history is in that town and how well they have preserved it. It’s also nice that it’s near the ocean.

What are some of your favorite things? Food/restaurant? Favorite color? Music genre/artist?
I love Mexican food and never miss a taco Tuesday! My favorite color is white, and i generally listen to country or pop on the radio!

What is your best childhood memory?
My best childhood memories would be getting to spend so much time with my family. For a few years my grandma, my aunt and younger cousin, and my mom and I all lived on the same street. Most nights we would all eat dinner together at my grandma's house and then sit on her front porch swing and have ice cream for dessert. Even the neighbors would come over. It was truly the simple life!

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
An interesting fact about me would have to be that I’m in the process of writing a children’s book about an accidental pumpkin patch that i grew in my backyard last summer. It’s called “The Pugkin Patch” and should be printed in early 2020.
