City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on November 17, 2019 from City Faces

This week's City Face is one of the first people see when they enter the Benedum Civic Center. She can also be seen all over town. Meet Michelle Leonard:

What is your tie to Bridgeport. Where do people see you here in town? I’ve worked for City of Bridgeport for 15 years; the last two fulltime.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.  I am married to Robert Leonard (for 34 years in February).  We have three children: Robert Leonard, Nikki Leonard and Cory Leonard.  We are also the proud grandparents of Jalyn Marie (11), Jase (6) and Jaxin (7 months) Smith.

What about pets? No pets.

Where do you work and what do you do there? I work at Bridgeport Parks and Recreation as Administrative Assistant to Director Joe Shuttleworth.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times? My favorite thing to do is watching football and hanging out with my grandkids.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?  Probably Bridgeport High School.  Jalyn and I have spent many enjoyable hours watching BHS Theatre, attending dance performances and performing there with Missoula Theatre.

What do you like about Bridgeport?  Bridgeport is a wonderful community and a large part of that is due to the hard work  of the  Associated Businesses of Bridgeport, the numerous community organizations and the leaders and workers of the City of Bridgeport

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...  Anyone that has ever attended one can tell you, Light Up Night is the best night of the year in Bridgeport.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Morgantown, specifically the Creative Arts Center and The Metropolitan Theatre.

How about your favorite place outside of WV? Without a doubt, Pittsburgh, specifically Heinz Field, at the end of the third quarter of a Steelers game, with Renegade blasting and 60, 000-plus Terrible Towels waving.

What are some of your favorite things? Food/restaurant? Favorite color? Music genre/artist?  Parkette Restaurant as well as Twin Oaks are local favorites that our family frequents often, but Chedders in Morgantown is my favorite place overall.  My favorite color is purple .  As far as music, my taste is quite eclectic and depending on my mood, the song lyrics, or an associated memory I listen and enjoy music ranging from Eminem to Mozart. Favorite candy is Salt Water Taffy.

What is your best childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory is probably attending the Miss America Pageant Parade on the Atlantic City boardwalk.
