City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on May 24, 2020 from City Faces

In 2003, Albani St. Martin married Jared Brown. They each added their spouse's name to their own as they created a new joint venture in life. Meet today's City Face Albani St. Martin Brown, a former Bridgeport resident, who remains active in the community.

How long have you lived in the Bridgeport area?
We lived in Bridgeport about eight years. We currently live in Barbour County.

Tell me about your family ...
My husband Jared and I have been married 16 1/2 years. We have three rocking kids. We love the arts, the theater, the woods and our community.

Our family is very involved with the BHS Theater and Thespian Troupe 7549 and local art studios. In addition to the arts, we love to camp, garden, adventure and travel! The kids have already been to as many as 23 states!

Do you have pets?
Since we moved to the farmhouse, we have added two pet goats and have been adopted by a cat with three extra toes. They all hike with us and it's fun!

What do you do for a living?
I'm a stay-at-home, homeschooling mama, but also the owner of SMB Table, a made-from-scratch Clarksburg Farmers Market pie shop. I love to bake pie for people. Jared is an English and theater teacher at BHS.

What is your favorite Bridgeport spot?
One of our faavorite spots in Bridgeport is the trail to City Park and then the path that leads beyond through a big field.

What do you like about Bridgeport? Why is it a good place to raise a family?
Bridgeport is a lovely town. It has many great focuses, many great churches, a great Main Street, fun festivals, lovely parks and community.

Tell me about some of  your best Bridgeport memories ...
We have so many wonderful memories from the Scottish Festivals. The Highland Games were always a joy to watch. Our kids have their own version they play in the yard. We loved sitting i n the park listening to the bands and bagpipes. My husband enjoyed eating haggis with the kids. We loved all the wonderful vendors and different animals. Jared and I had both been to Scotland and it was always such a wonderful day and brought back beautiful memories.

What is your favorite WV spot outside  Bridgeport?
Our farmhouse: It's a great place to be. We love being surrounded by the woods, creeks, lakes and wilderness.

What is your favorite spot outside WV?
Bear Lake in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It was so beautiful on many levels. Our Colorado trip was a great experience for our family.

We l ove international foods! We frequent Maxican restaurants, Mediterranan restaurants and Chinese restaurants for sure! If we are out traveing, we have a general rule to not eat at restaurants that we have at home. We have come across many fantastic types of food! We all like to try new things.

We joke that we all like clear because we all really like so many colors. I personally like shades of blue and purple. But I love the fresh gree of spring and then love the golden lights of fall.

What is your favorite color?
Our house loves The Beatles. We have a lot of dance parties to Bon  Jovi, AC-DC, EDM ad of, course, show tunes! One of our favorite types of music is the folk music at the Jubilee. We also love the Okie Dokie Brothers. Their movies and albums are classics at our home.

What are some of your favorite things?
I love traveling with my family. We learned how to ride long distances, read maps, try new things and how to pick a good hotel.

What else would you like to share?
An Albani fact: Sign language was my first language. My dad is deaf and I have been raised in that beautiful culture. A SBM (St. Martin Brown) fact: Jared and I met and we were married at Eat 'n Park. Other SMB facts: We were able to adopt one of our kiddos and we hope to adopt again. Last Jared and Albani fact: We say YOLO still and and often in reference to real life situations. "Should we try to camp on the beach this summer?" YOLO!" We have our ocean campsite booked! We try our best to tread l ightly on the Earth. We teach our kids t o appreciate all the Earth provides and care for her by being mindful of what  you use, consume and dispose of. We love to repurpose, thrift and recycle for that very reason. We only have one Earth. Be good to her.
