City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on May 23, 2021 from City Faces

Meet this week's City Face Elizabeth "Gwen" Murray"

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
My parents  moved here when I was 3 years old. I remained in Bridgeport until after college graduation. I married my high school sweetheart  Michael Murray (both 1977 graduates). We relocated to the Carolinas until 1999, then decided  to be closer to family  and moved back, where I remained with the kids.

Tell me about your family...
I have six children and six grandchildren, two of them who live with me.

What about pets?
Oh my!! I swear God has a sign in my yard that says… All pets welcome!! Lol.
Currently, I have four dogs, four cats and one bird.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I have been blessed to be a private caregiver  and share the lives of the elderly for about 25 years. I have learned many valuable  life lessons.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
I love to be outdoors  and work in my flower beds. I have had many talks with God there.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
Walking the trails at City Park with two of my  grandchildren, Bella and Michael.

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
Bridgeport is the most ideal place to raise a family, a community  that has your back at a moment's notice and small schools that truly care for your child.

What's one – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport?
In my neighborhood  of Pennsylvania  Ave. with all the neighborhood  kids.
Fireman’s Fair; Ihave such good memories  here.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
I dearly  love spending  time with family in Braxton  County.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
I really love Hilton Head, SC.

What are some of your favorite things?
My favorite  things are simply my family: Spending  every moment with them that I can. Time is precious. Of course, I love my animals, too.

Food/restaurant?
My favorite restaurant  is Sho-Gun. I also really love Mr. Taco Food Truck.
I love Italian  and sushi.

Favorite color?
Fushcia or yellow

Music genre/artist?
I love 70s/80s music.
I really love Air One and K-LOVE Radio

What is your best childhood memory?  I had a dog named Toto (huge Wizard  of Oz fan) and we’d walk all over Bridgeport  and end up at the DQ.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
My faith is what has gotten me thru some tough times. Treasure your family. They are priceless. Live life to the fullest. Each day is a new chapter to be written.
