City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on October 24, 2021 from City Faces

This week’s Bridgeport City Face is Julie Gaston, who lives with her family at Maple Lake. Learn more about her below!

Julie, how long have you lived here in Bridgeport? We’ve lived at Maple Lake for 15 years.
Our youngest daughter, Bethany, had met her best friend, Kathleen Coll, in the 6th grade at BMS. Kathleen lived at Maple Lake and Bethany loved hanging out with her at the lake. We fell in love with the lake and knew we wanted to live here.

Tell us about your family …  I have been married to Bobby for 36 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Adrienne, at home, and Bethany, a physical therapist in Zanesville, Ohio. Bethany is married to Curt Cameron. We have a grandson, Brooks. who will turn one on November 12.

Do you have pets? We have one dog, Izzie

Where do you work and what do you do there? I currently stay home with Adrienne. She has not started back to her day program since the pandemic. Before COVID, I was the Clubhouse Rental Manager for Maple Lake for 6 years.

What are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? I love to read, cook and do crafts.
I love spending time with my girls and my grandson, sitting on the dock and going for walks at Maple Lake, going to WVU football games and country music concerts with Bobby

What’s your favorite Bridgeport spot? Hinkle and Deegan Lakes because it is so beautiful, and it is a great place for families to have fun.

What do you love about Bridgeport? Bridgeport is a wonderful place to live because of the community spirit and many opportunities. Bridgeport schools offer an excellent education. There are many wonderful churches, civic organizations, community activities, great restaurants, and shops.

The community spirit is one of the most wonderful things in Bridgeport. The citizens come together in support of sports, community activities and fundraisers. No matter what the need, everyone steps up to help.

What are some of your best memories that took place here in Bridgeport? Challenger Baseball will always be most favorite. Nothing compares to the smiles of the many special needs children who get to experience playing baseball because of Mike and Kim Martin and the generosity of many Bridgeport businesses and groups.

Light Up Night is also a favorite memory! Is a wonderful night for families and friends to come together and celebrate the start of the holiday season.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Blackwater Falls and Harpers Ferry

Favorite place outside of WV? Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

What are some of your favorite things: Family, WVU Football games, spending time on the dock at the lake, sitting by the fire in our yard, vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and at the beach.

Favorite food: Italian

Favorite restaurant: Muriale’s

Favorite color: Pink

Favorite music and artist: I love county music! My favorite artist is Chris Stapleton. I also love the Eagles and AC/DC!

What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory is of the many camping trips we went on. We camped at many West Virginia State Parks and campgrounds in other states. Later, we had a camp at Big Bear Lake. We had so much fun camping there!

What are some other interesting things about you? I love to be involved in community activities and fundraising. I believe that every freedom that we are blessed to enjoy is because of the sacrifices of our veterans.
