City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 09, 2022 from City Faces

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Alfred Isch, who has his own version of Santa's workshop in his home - year-round.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here. I have lived in Bridgeport for about 8 years.  My beautiful wife Jessica (Ross) wouldn’t live anywhere else so that means neither would I. Haha. I grew up in Belington, WV, where my parents still reside.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.  Sure am (married), and we have a total of 6 kids ranging in ages 2 to 16.   Alfred the 3rd, London Thomas, Madilyn Thomas, Kinley, Preston, and Xander.

What about pets? One dog, her name is Bella and she is an Old English Sheep dog.

Where do you work and what do you do there? I work at Anderson Excavating, out of Morgantown.  I am the Director of Fleet Operations.  Also, I am the owner of Eightfold Haven Woodworks & Art, and my woodshop is here at my house.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times? Chasing kids, sports, and fine woodworking.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?  I would have to say the Bridgeport Rec Complex.

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?  Schools would have to be #1.  Second would have to be that we are so centrally located it feels like, a lot to do that is under an hour drive.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  So many wonderful places, but Holly River State Park and Harpers Ferry would definitely be right there at the top.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?  It’s been while since I have been there but Nashville, IN is a great little town.

What are some of your favorite things?

Food/restaurant?  Lasagna at home, or a steak at the Wonder Bar.

Favorite color?  Blue

Music genre/artist?  Classic rock is my go-to, but to be honest I like any music that isn’t country.

What is your best childhood memory?  Working in the shop with my dad, going on family vacation every year camping, and, Christmas mornings.  My parents always did so much for us to make sure we had a wonderful Christmas.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add… I have custom designed, personalized, and shipped woodworks to 22 different states this 2021 Holiday Season.

Editor's Note: Isch's work is available through Etsy. Earlier this month, he was named a Star Seller. Learn more about his woodworking business at the Eighfold Haven Woodworks & Art LLC Facebook page.
