Clarksburg Police Present Officer of the Month Honors

Clarksburg Police Chief Kiddy recently presented Officer of the Month Awards for July, August and September 2024 to Patrolman First Class Bender, Detective Sergeant Collins and Detective Patrolman First Class Criss.
During the month of July 2024, Patrolman First Class Bender completed 46 arrests, consisting of 16 felonies and 30 misdemeanors. These 
tasks were completed in addition to his Mountaineer Highway Interdiction (MHIT) and K-9 duties.

PFC Bender provides outstanding police service to the citizens of Clarksburg and is consistently dependable in many unspoken assignments.
During the month of August 2024, Detective Sergeant Collins had an extensive Breaking and Entering investigation to consist of watching hours of video surveillance, obtaining search warrants and multiple defendants.
In this investigation Clarksburg Police responded to a local convenience store that had been broken into during the early morning hours. This store was entered and merchandise stolen on two different occasions by two separate groups. Sergeant Collins was able to use his knowledge and experience to build a solid case and make arrests of several suspects.
In addition to his B&E investigation, Sergeant Collins investigated an Internet Crimes against Children case in which he exonerated an accused person of wrongdoing.
During the month of September 2024, Detective Patrolman First Class Criss conducted an extensively involved stabbing investigation. This investigation included several interviews, video surveillance review, and multiple search warrants leading to an arrest of a dangerous individual with a history of violence.
In addition, Detective Criss directly contributed to an arrest of a wanted person and assisted other detectives in several ongoing investigations currently being conducted.
