Editor's Note: Rarely, if ever, in our year-end stories have staff of Connect-Bridgeport been included in year-end stories. However, we thought it was approprirate to mention two stories that impacted our staff and also saw the community rally in support of those staff members. On Sept. 29 we learned that long-time journalist Chris Johnson has passed away at the age of 52. The outpouring of love from Bridgeport community and beyond was touching. It was the same outpouring the community showed last year when Cassie Busdeker, the executive director of the Greater Bridgeport Convention and Visitors Bureau had a liver transplant. Although that began in 2024, her journey continues, as does the kindness of the community toward her. Today, Cassie is still battling toward recovery. And, she still is working hard. Please find blogs on both individuals, including Cassie's from 2024, below.
