Cottrill's CD "No Princess" Released

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 26, 2012

Most of the songs from the debut CD from Brooke Cottrill, "No Princess," are a little darker and heavier than one might expect from a 16- year-old, especially considering a lot of these songs from this 12-track CD were written by Cottrill before she entered Bridgeport High School.   Although the subject matter reveals teen angst, Cottrill's lyrics are mature and expose a sometimes angry and confident teenager.

"When I see people who are egotistical, selfish, or treat others unfairly, it makes me mad.  I lash out at them through my lyrics," Cottrill said.

In addition to writing all of the songs, Cottrill sings and plays piano. Joining her on the CD are Bob Workman on drums, Brian Cottrill on guitar and bass, and Davin Seamon on Hammond organ and strings.

Cottrill's songs are available on iTunes and her CDs are available for purchase at Bandland in Clarksburg (304-622-1171), and Showtime Music Center in the Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport (304-842-3560).  In addition, the CD can be purchased through BrookeCottrill.com, which also has information including live dates, videos, pictures and lyrics.

A CD listening party is scheduled for Almost Heaven Desserts in Bridgeport on July 13  at 7 p.m. Cottrill will perform at the Bridgeport Farmer's Market July 29, at 10 a.m., at the Meadowbrook Mall August 1 at 7 p.m. and at the T&L Car Cruise of the Summer at Rosebud Plaza in Clarksburg on Sept. 22.
