Five City Employees Including Trio of Years of Service honorees to be Recognized by Council

A handful of city employees will be honored at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Police Officers Austen Zorick and Clayton Bee will be recongized for their performance in the Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars 5K in June where Bridgeport won the Top Cop Team Award.
Also, a trio of Years of Service Awards will be presented to Ricky Moore, who has been with Public Works for 25 years, Ben Tacy who has been with the Fire Department for 10 years and Scott Wilburn who has been with the Fire Department for 35 years.
As far as new business for Monday’s meeting, there are four items on the agenda.
Council will look to finalize the reappointment of Michael Moore to the Bridgeport Fire Civil Service Commission for a term of four years from Aug. 1 of this year through July of 2028.
They will consider and act on a resolution that would adopt the Region VI Planning and Development Council’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigaton update for the city.
A White Oaks matter is also on the agenda with the first reading of an ordinance that would revise the boundaries and acreage of Phase I of the White Oaks Business Park to include that the 11.48-acre tract known and desiganted as Oakwood Estates.
The final item of new business – a disccusion in regard to the City Manager Position - will likely be done in executive session.
Executive session is expected to be in place for the 6 p.m. work session scheduled for Monday where the topic will be advanced construction for The Bridge Sports Complex.
The regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with Father Walt Jagela from All Saints Catholic Church scheduled to provide the invocation which will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Andy Lang and Interim City Manager and Police Chief Mark Rogers will provide reports and there will be a period of time alloted for public comments before moving on to the awards and presentations and new business items.
