Full-Scale Emergency Exercise Set for NCWV Airport
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 06, 2026
North Central West Virginia Airport will host a full-scale emergency exercise on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m.
The exercise will take place at the old airport terminal and will simulate an aircraft emergency involving a commercial flight. Airport personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS crews, emergency management staff, and other partners will be involved.
The exercise will also test how the airport and airline staff coordinate information, account for passengers and crew, support families, and communicate with the public while emergency operations are underway.
Residents may see a significant number of emergency vehicles and personnel near the old terminal as well as simulated fire. This is a planned exercise, and operations at the new terminal will not be disrupted. There will be no actual aircraft crash associated with the exercise.
Airport and City officials hope to never need to respond to a major aircraft accident at CKB. However, those involved appreciate the opportunity to practice with response partners and appreciate the public's understanding as they work to improve our service to the community
