Lions Club Extends Deadline for Paver Brick Purchase

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 01, 2020

In early-October, the Bridgeport Lions Club dedicated Lions Circle on the corner of Philadelphia and Johnson Avenue. Over the summer, the service club adopted an ornamental garden previously maintained by Bridgeport Garden Club. From now on, the Lions will plant and maintain flowers, shrubbery and small trees grown on the property visible to road and foot traffic.

The organization as announced a new element to Lions Circle: Decorative paver bricks.

“We need to raise money to buy playground equipment for Lions Point which is out at Deegan Lake, so we decided to sell a limited amount of paver bricks,” said Lion Robin Faris.

The bricks are $50 each and can be purchased in honor of or in memory of a family or community member.

“And if you don’t want to do that, you can buy one and list one of our club ideals on it,” Faris said.

There were originally 100 bricks available with 50 purchased within a few weeks of the campaign launch. The deadline has been extended through Feb. 29 with about a dozen left.

Currently, there is only a gazebo and bench at Lions Point at Deegan Lake. The club plans to purchase an all-inclusive piece of playground equipment for the popular picnic and fishing spot.

The Lions Club is appreciative to the community for its support of all fundraisers, including its largest, the December pancake feed at the Benedum Civic Center. Dollars raised through those events enable the club to carry out countless service projects.

To purchase a paver brick, you can print and complete the form below and send to the address indicated or call Faris at 304-629-6798.Stay up to date on the Bridgeport Lions Club Facebook page.
