Main Street Business Closes Just Shy of Anniversary

By Jeff Toquinto on September 04, 2024

A unique downtown Bridgeport business has closed its doors just a bit short of what would have been its one-year anniversary.

According to a social media post on their Facebook page, The Tattered Daisy, which went by The Daisy on Main at its Bridgeport site, has shut down.

The business opened its doors at 153 West Main Street on Sept. 30, 2023, according to the Bridgeport Finance Department. It took over the site previously occupied by Raising June.

Sandra Porter was the owner of the business and had others involved in the truly unique entity that graced the city’s Main Street corridor.

According to Porter in a story done on Connect-Bridgeport last year, the business featured clothing, home décor, candles, and other accessories such as purses and jewelry – many handmade. They also offered charcuterie boards for various events.

For those unsure of the location, it was located between East Chicago Pizza and the Chandler Building on Main Street, which is actually behind the Chandler Building. Another way of recalling the area is that the parking lot for the business was accessed through the large parking lot by East Chicago Pizza, which is directly across the street from the Benedum Civic Center.

The Facebook page of the business is still up. And while their physical location is closed, they are still looking to sell goods. Here is their Facebook post in its entirety.

“Well Daisy friends.....The Daisy on Main is closed.  Thank you to our friends who came in to our little shop!
“We want to thank you and we will still be out and about with The Tattered Daisy.
“If you know someplace that offers opportunities for pop ups please let us know and continue following our page!”

To contact the business, the number listed on their page is 304-777-6169.

Editor's Note: Photo of the empty space is from The Tattered Daisy Facebook page.
