Off the Shelf – Back to School

By Angela Spatafore on August 26, 2026

Happy first week of school!

The library is here to support both our students and teachers during this school season.

Just about everything we offer, including our events, are free, and some of our services do not even require a library card.

If you have any questions about anything I mention, please reach out to us at 304-842-8248 or library@bridgeportwv.gov.

If you have an assignment coming up, be sure to check out the library to find what you need.

We have tons of books (plus e-books and audiobooks) to help you complete your assignments, and if we do not have what you need right away, we can likely order what you need from another library.

Just be sure to reach out well before your deadline!

For the teachers, we can pull books from our collection that meet the criteria for your assignment and have those books set aside for students to browse.

We also have book club kits available to check out.

Each book club kit comes with multiple copies of the same book, sample book club questions, and a handy synopsis.

If you want to bring your students to tour the library, we can certainly arrange something for your class.

We can also bring the library to your school! Our staff are available to talk to your class about the library, bring library card applications, or bring an activity.

We are here for you after school as well! Join us every Tuesday for Study Hall.

Bring your homework, and our staff will be here to help you on your academic journey.

Study Hall staff have professional backgrounds in education.

We will also supply free snacks.

Our event calendar is full of events, where you can learn a new skill, meet new friends, and unwind from a busy day.

If you cannot make it to the library or need help at home, our online library is always open.

We have several digital resources available that you can access from the comfort of your home.

Visit our website (bplwv.org) to access Miss Humblebee's Academy (guided lessons for ages 3-6), Fiero Code (learn coding for video games, websites, and more), Transparent Language (language learning including American Sign Language, English, Spanish, and 100+ more), TutorWV (on-demand tutoring, homework help, test preparation and writing assistance for students in grades K-Adult in over 60 subjects), and more!
