Sophia Schroeder Named 2020 BMS Idol

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 21, 2020

With just a couple more weeks left of school Bridgeport Middle school has crowned a new BMS Idol winner.  Students sent in videos at the beginning of May to be considered for the event, then a faculty panel determine finalist for this year's virtual competition.

Eleven BMS Students submitted their talents to be judged by three individuals. Usually the event finds local judges since the event takes place at school, but this year's new format allowed judges to be from further away.  This year's judges were Bridgeport's own Nat Frederick, dancer Valerie Guido (originally from Clarksburg) who is returning to our state after a stint in New York City, and Katie George who is an ESPN Reporter and cousin to BMS band director, Nell Givens.  All three judges commented on the quality of talent this year and how much they enjoyed watching these students perform.

The 2020 BMS Idol winners were: 3rd Runner Up - Ella Sherrell (6th Grade), 2nd Runner Up - Lilly Smart (7th Grade), 1st Runner Up - Izaiah Snyder (8th Grade), and BMS Idol 2020 Winner - Sophia Schroeder.

See the competition video below.
