Sunmoon Apparel Open in Expanded Location

By Julie Perine on March 17, 2023

After closing for a week and a half, Sunmoon Apparel reopened its doors Wednesday, March 15. By expanding into a portion of the 202 East Main Street building, the boutique has more than doubled its floorspace and has incorporated some new merchandise.

Still showcasing thrifted vintage finds, Sunmoon Apparel also now carries a line of new clothing. The Gardenbelle Shop brand fits nicely with the free-flowing, colorful vibes of the boutique. Owner Kate Glaspell said she discovered Gardenbelle online and reached out, pleasantly surprised that the owner was happy to have her brand featured at the Bridgeport boutique.
Sunmoon also now carries a broader range of jewelry and organic products and features a vinyl record room, complete with a couch for relaxation. As always, the boutique has a generous-sized dressing room for trying on fashion finds.

“This space has grown not only with just sustainable fashion but with so many amazing new creators as well,” Glaspell said. “We now offer an abundance of records in our record room, wellness (Natural skin and body care, toxic free household products and herbal teas plus local honey), and so much more.”

She and her husband Austin said they received much help and support from the community while doing their renovation. They are grateful for support they have received since first opening in 2019. At that time, the boutique encompassed a small room at 202 East Main, the former site of Country Peddler.

In addition to SunmoonApparel, the building will house Mountain Mama Magick and Abundant Mother Apothecary. Owned by Whitney Oliverio, Mountain Mama Magick is a holistic health practice that incorporates reiki, crystal therapy, and hand-poured, soy-wax candles – including candle-making classes. The apothecary business is owned by Sara Rose Scudere, who offers herbal work, tinctures and more. Both businesses hope to open during the spring months.

Glaspell and SunmoonApparel stylist Darryan Ward believe all three businesses compliment one another and they look forward to them being in full swing.

SunmoonApparel 's new hours are 12-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11-7 Saturday. Customer can also shop online at https://www.sunmoonapparel.com. See more photos of the expanded store in the gallery below.
