The Grapevine: Normalcy Returning as Events Such as Summer Kickoff, Shakespeare and More Return

By Rosalyn Queen on June 17, 2021 from The Grapevine

For those of us who have suffered being confined and following quarantine restrictions, this past week certainly gave us an optimistic view.

First the City of Bridgeport had its summer opening with a food truck and entertainment event in downtown.  There were different types of food to sample and plenty of music.  There was a large sand box for the kids to have a great time in.  The city supplied plenty of tables and chairs and with a beautiful evening everyone got to visit and renew friendships that had become stagnant with the quarantine.

It was back to Bridgeport with the ribbon cutting for the new Dairy Queen.  The Lefevre family are the new owners, and their remodeling includes a nice dining room for get togethers, meetings or parties.  After the ribbon cutting all the guests were treated to lunch and once again there was the opportunity to visit and renew old friendships.  The Lefevre’s were so gracious and remember to stop by on. Your evening walk for a cone with the curl on top.

The week ended with a play put on by a young team of actors from Vintage theatre.  It was held at the Uptown Event Center on Friday evening.  This was a group of seven youngsters who were making their final appearance as a part of Vintage Theatre.  Their presentation was from Shakespeare.  Vintage Theatre is headed up by Jason Young.

I know that the Clarksburg CVB concert is on Saturday night, and I hope it was a success and well attended.  There are many individuals who are working hard to bring life back to our community and they need your support.  I urge you to be a part of these activities.

Now that vacation time is here, I urge you to consider spending vacation here in West Virginia.  We have many areas for swimming and boating.  Some of our parks have cabins and if you want to rough it, pitch a tent.  We have a beautiful state and do not forget tubing on the Shenandoah.

Take care, stay healthy and until next week, “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
