Two-Vehicle Area Accident Sees One Individual Killed

On Tuesday, January 14, at 5:25 a.m, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a two (2) vehicle traffic accident on Blue Horizon Drive.
The initial investigation revealed that a Northbound Toyota SUV crossed the centerline, striking a Southbound coal truck in head-on fashion. The driver of the Toyota SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the coal truck was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction team responded to assist with the accident investigation. Monongalia County EMS, Cassville VFD, Brookhaven VFD, Mt Morris VFD, Granville VFD and the West Virginia Public Service Commission responded to the accident.
Names of those involved in the accident are not being released at this stage of the investigation.
