WVU Police Investigating Morning Campus Shooting

West Virginia University students and employees were  encouraged to seek shelter and avoid Grant Avenue in Morgantown as University Police respond to shooting incident in the 500 block area. However, as of 12:32 a.m. this morning, Jan. 24, University Police issued an all-clear in the immediate area around the same area.
 
Students and others are encouraged to remain vigilant even as the immediate threat has passed. The shooting victim appears to have a non-life-threatening injury. Officers are continuing to investigate.
 
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23.
 
One person was according to police and a search for a suspect is underway. There was no word after the "All-Clear" was given if the suspect was in custody.
 
Police are looking for a white Mercedes with tinted windows, possibility with a tail light out, and a man wearing a red hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes. He was last seen running toward Beechurst Avenue and 6th Street.
 
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 304-293-COPS (2677) or visit the department at 992 Elmer Prince Drive, Morgantown, 26505. Information may be shared anonymously.
