Recreation Coordinator

Job Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of Parks & Recreation

Starting Wage: $16.62/hr

The City of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for a full-time Recreation Coordinator position. This position performs professional duties in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising recreation, arts, and special events for the City of Bridgeport. The Recreation Coordinator assists in the operation of Parks and Recreation facilities. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs assigned recreational programs and activities; Promotes department activities and events by preparing brochures, flyers, and news releases; provides information to the public and media; Performs administrative task; Meets with community groups to promote activities and encourage involvement; Provides logistical support to areas assigned for events and programs to include equipment set up and breakdown while monitoring of the facility during the event; Prepares reports, correspondence, and budget estimates for assigned programs; Develops, tracks and implements recreation program budget. Performs other related work as directed by the Parks and Recreation Director or City Manager.

The ideal candidate must have a High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidate must have availability to work a variable work schedule that may include early and late hours and weekends and holidays. Must also have excellent communication, organizational, leadership and planning skills. Must be able to perform basic budgeting and tracking of revenue and expense. Additionally, the person must have a strong computing background and, at minimum, be proficient in the Microsoft software platform (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
