Job Summary:
Under the Fitness Manager's general supervision, the Group Fitness Instructor leads and coordinates group adult fitness/physical training sessions for a specified health and fitness program.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Plans and leads exercise/activity sessions in one or more assigned fitness areas, such as low impact aerobics, stretching/flexibility, yoga, circuit training, general fitness, weight training, and/or specialty training.
  2. Arrives before class time to prepare the exercise room and equipment before participants arrive.
  3. Tailor each class to the participants, paying attention to age, fitness levels, and any injuries or health concerns, assisting throughout the class.
  4. Ensures that safety and injury prevention policies and procedures are adhered to by participants; reports accidents and prepares accident reports, as required.
  5. Performs related duties as required.
 
High school diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience. Must possess group exercise certification at time of hire, CPR/AED certification within 30 days of employment. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and an ability to follow safety protocols.
