Job Summary:

The City of Bridgeport Public Library is in search of a full-time Circulation Services Librarian. This position reports directly to the Library Director and performs a variety of supervisory, training, and patron-centric duties in a public library. Much of the work is patron-based in nature and involves the application of standard library procedures and routines. Duties include but are not limited to training, scheduling, and supervising Library Aides; maintaining documentation on all assigned staff members and any problems that might arise at the circulation desk; keeping extensive circulation statistics; tracking usage of electronic resources; communicating patron issues and requests to the Library Director; providing excellent customer service to patrons by ensuring all part-time staff members follow current policies and procedures; maintaining supervisory notes and preparing interim and annual evaluations; creating daily assignments for part-time staff; communicating with building vendors; coordinating interlibrary loan requests; and handling biweekly transits within library consortium. This is a full-time position and requires working days, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably with two or more years of library experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

· Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively interact with the public and coworkers in a courteous and tactful manner.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications.
