ABB Summer Kickoff Canceled in Downtown Bridgeport
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 31, 2025
The ABB Summer Kickoff and Food Truck Festival in downtown Bridgeport has been canceled for today, May 31, 2025. The reason for the cancellation is a damaged utility pole on Main Street that shut down traffic last evening. The pole has been temporarily secured, but Bridgeport Police Chief Mark Rogers has advised it is still not a good idea to have substantial foot traffic in the area.
"With the leaning electric pole in front of Almost Heaven Desserts, we cannot risk any harm to our citizens... The safety of everyone is our top priority," said Associated Businesses of Bridgeport President Jaclyn Rominger.
City officials agree with the cancellation.
"After consulting with our city emergency services and Mon Power officials, we agree with the decision by the ABB to cancel the event," said Joe Shuttleworth, acting city manager. "While we are all disappointed, the reality is that we must consider public safety at all times and do not wish to put anyone in harms way."
Connect-Bridgeport will keep the public informed about any attempts to reschedule the event.
