After four postponements due to inclement weather and/or poor field conditions, the BMS Lady Braves finally got to play their first regular season game. They traveled to East Fairmont High School to take on East Fairmont Middle School, which won, 8-0.
The Lady Hornets scored three runs in the bottom of the first. A leadoff double to center, a one out dropped infield fly ball, a single, and a triple contributed to the scoring.
In the top of the second, the Lady Braves loaded the bases with back-to-back-to-back walks to Olivia Fittro, Sophia Humble, and Nora Martin. But BMS was not able to get a runner across home plate.
With two outs in the bottom of the second, a single, a double, a walk, and a triple plated three more runs for EFMS.
The Lady Hornets completed their scoring in the bottom of the third. With two outs, back-to-back singles, a BMS infield fielding error, and another single credited EFMS with two more runs and an 8-0 lead.
BMS did not score in the fourth or fifth inning and EFMS won by the 8-0 score.
The Lady Braves had hits from Molly Frenzel, Mara Beverage, and Payton Fisher. They also worked out five walks against EFMS pitching and stranded eight base runners.
Fisher was the starting pitcher for the Lady Braves. Her pitching line was four innings, eight runs, ten hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Her pitching record for the season is 0-1.
The Lady Braves return to action today, when they travel to Morgantown to play the Suncrest Seals. The game will be played at Pam Berry Field at White Park (adjacent to the Morgantown Ice Rink) at 5:30 p.m.
