Editor's Note: It is hard to know if anyone on Bridgeport City Council knew when former City Manager Brian Newton resigned July 31, 2023 that it would be more than 14 months before the position would be filled. That would prove to be the case, but the city officially filled the seat with the announced hiring of Patrick Ford in October. Ford had previous ties to the city not only as the author of the city's original comprehensive plan, but his wife is a Bridgeport native and a Bridgeport High School graduate.
