Off the Shelf – Upcoming Halloween Events

Summer is coming to an end, and October is right around the corner. The library is getting into the Halloween spirit with several upcoming events. Registration for all events covered is open now, so be sure to visit bplwv.org/events to book your spot for anything you would like to attend.
First up, we are hosting a Halloween Costume Swap next week on Thursday, September 25 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Bring any Halloween costumes, jewelry, shoes, accessories, etc. that you would like to swap with others.
No money can be exchanged at our community swaps, so this is your no-cost chance to shop for your family’s costumes at the library.
You are welcome to drop by any time during the hour and stay as long as you like.
The Halloween Costume Swap is open to all ages.
On Friday, October 2 from 6:30-8:00 PM, the library will be overrun with ghosts, monsters, and cryptids.
The monsters have escaped from the books, and it is up to you to Escape from the Haunted Library.
This is a family-friendly, haunted tour of the library. You will be armed with a blacklight flashlight and need to find a way to send the monsters back into the pages they came from.
This event is designed to be low on the big scares but still fun and immersive, so children of all ages can enjoy the experience. Small groups will be guided through the library by a library staff member.
The event will start in the back parking lot, and at the end of the tour, be sure to stick around for some treats before you leave.
Teens and adults are invited to Craft Collective on Wednesday, October 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
We will be making monster pins you can wear on your shirt or pin to a bag.
You can accessorize your monster with fake teeth and fur to give them a unique look. No two monsters will be the same.
All supplies are provided, but spaces are limited, so be sure to register!
At the end of October, on Friday, October 23 from 6:00-9:00 p.m., we are hosting our annual murder mystery night for adults only.
This year we are running Murder! At the Masquerade by Bearded Rat Mysteries.
The fun of our murder mystery nights is that everyone gets a character to play, and we highly encourage wearing a costume to match your character.
In this game, you will not know exactly who you or anyone else is, and you will not even know if you are the murderer.
This is designed to keep you guessing until the end of the game!
