May Artist After Hours Event to Feature Music of Bridgeport Native Annie Neeley, Art of Eddie Spaghetti

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 16, 2022

SUBMITTED BY THE CULTURAL FOUNDATION OF HARRISON COUNTY

The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County is excited to bring together the music of Annie Neeley and the art of Eddie Spaghetti for the second Artist After Hours event of 2022 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19 at the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg.

The event is free, made possible by the generous support from this month's sponsor, WYK Associates, Inc., Light refreshments will also be served.

For over a decade Bridgeport native Annie Neeley and her bass player/husband, Dave Kirkpatrick, have been writing songs on the folkier side of country. Her 2010 Nashville debut, Cold Heart Blues, features the type of songwriting that can coax tears from stone.

With stylistic references to Hank Williams and Emmylou Harris, Neeley writes with the confidence of someone firmly connected to their roots. Neeley has been all around the Eastern US, playing her songs with a rotating cast of friends and characters.

From West Virginia to DC to Nashville and back to the holler again, Neeley has found a way to channel those deep roots into a more raucous version of her original bluegrass on her 2021 album, Big Old Moon.

Based in Morgantown Eddie "Spaghetti" Maier specializes in woodcut printmaking, using "his creative talents to share Mother Nature's bountiful gifts of beauty."

In addition to his artwork, which can be found across the United States, he frequently teaches art workshops.

The community is invited to support our local artists to help ensure the arts are a central part of our community and economic development in Harrison County. Established in 1972, the mission of The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County is to foster an art-rich environment, and to encourage the development and appreciation of all art forms, while promoting the growth and expansion of artistic, cultural, and economic development.

Additional information about The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County can be found at www.theculturalfoundation.org.

Editor's Note: Submitted photo of Neely.
