Beneath the Jacket with the Bridgeport FFA: Getting the Scoop on Annual Banquet and New Officers

On Thursday, May 18, the Bridgeport FFA held its 2023 chapter banquet! The chapter recognized its green hand and chapter degree recipients as well as three honorary chapter FFA degrees. They also recognized their members for participating in numerouscompetitionsand activities throughout the year, including the WV State Horse Judging Competition, the North Central Region Public Speaking Competition, and the WV Beef Expo.
After the chapter recognized the agricultural completer’s and retiring officers, they announced their 2023-2024 officer team.
The officer candidates had to participate in an in-person interview as 
well as an online application to receive an officer position.

Your 2023-2024 Chapter Sentinel: Zachary Nicholson
Zach is a current freshman at Bridgeport High School and has taken two agriculture classes this year! Zach has participated in numerous events while part of the Chapter, including being part of the Bridgeport FFA Horse Judging Team.
Your 2023-2024 Chapter Treasurer: Connor Blake
Connor is a current junior at Bridgeport High School and has taken one agriculture class while at BHS. Connor was one of two members from Bridgeport to compete in the North Central Region Public Speaking Competition, where he presented a twelve-minute speech in an event that requires a three- to five-minute speech.
Your 2023-2024 Chapter Reporter: Bryanna Fisher
Bryanna is a current sophomore at Bridgeport High School and has taken two agriculture classes at BHS. This isn’t Bryanna’s first time in an officer position, as she was Bridgeport’s 2021-2022 sentinel. Bryanna has helped with and participated in numerous events during her time as part of the Bridgeport FFA chapter.
Your 2023:2024 Chapter Secretary: Gracie Burdette
Gracie is a current freshman at Bridgeport High School and she took her first agriculture class this year! Gracie has helped with, and competed in numerous events with the chapter, including the Horse Judging Team and Project RED.
Your 2023-2024 Chapter Vice President: Payton Evans
Payton is a current sophomore at Bridgeport High School. Payton has been part of numerous events throughout her time as part of the chapter! She is also part of the Horse Judging Team and is well known in the school for her goat daffodil!
Your 2023-2024 Chapter President: Miyah Swiger
Miyah is a current junior at Bridgeport High School and has taken three agriculture classes at BHS! This is also not the first time she has held an officer position, as she was the 2022-2023 Chapter Vice President. Miyah has been part of numerous competitions and events which the chapter has participated in, including the WV Horse Judging Competition, the North Central Region Public Speaking Competition, and the WV Beef Expo.
