City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on October 14, 2019 from City Faces

Lifelong Bridgeport resident Heather Clifton has a busy family, involved in sports and local events. Learn more about her in this week's City Faces blog:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
I was born and raised in Bridgeport!

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
My husband, Jeremy, and I just celebrated our 4th anniversary in September. We have three kids Ryan 23, Gage 16, and Abbey 14.

What about pets?
We have 2 rescue dogs, Gertie is a basset hound and Lorelai is a beagle mix- both spoiled!

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I am in my 9th year of teaching special education at Nutter Fort Elementary. I have been there for my entire career (3 years on the primary side and I am in my 6th year on the intermediate side). I absolutely love teaching special education and couldn’t imagine doing anything different!

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
I love to watch my kids play sports! Gage runs track and cross country while Abbey cheers and plays softball! I do a lot of crafts in my free time (not that I have a lot, the kids keep me busy), I make hair bows and I do photography on the side.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
My home! I love making memories in my house with my family and friends!

Why do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
I love the atmosphere here! You get a true sense of community, I have met some amazing people through the years.  The people here are always willing to step up and help each other when needed. I love all the events that the city puts on- Light Up night is our favorite!!

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
Helping with the Challenger League baseball. I started helping when I was in high school and now Abbey, Gage and my sister Hanna are all involved. The challenger league helped me to determine my career! I absolutely love watching the pure happiness on all the players and their buddies faces!!

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
Does Hobby Lobby in Morgantown count?!?! I love being in the mountains in WV.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
Ocean City, MD and Disney World

What are some of your favorite things? Food/restaurant? Favorite color? Music genre/artist?
I love tacos!! My favorite color is pink. I love country music and attending concerts.

What is your best childhood memory?
Having movie nights with my mom and little sister.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
I am obsessed with all things Christmas- I would celebrate all year long if I could! I cannot get enough of pumpkin spice products!  Also, I am sucker for a cheesy Hallmark movie!!!
