City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 24, 2021 from City Faces

This week's City Face is Michele Wagner. Meet her here!

How long have you lived in Bridgeport and what broght you here?
I am a lifetime resident of Harrison County.  We moved to Bridgeport seven years ago.  It was one of the best decisions we ever made.  It seems like everyone in this community is eager to help and everyone wants the kids to succeed.

Tell me about your family ...
I am blessed to have been married to my best friend Patrick for 25 years now.  Patrick is a registered nurse at the VA Medical Center, working in the ICU.  He enjoys giving back to our local heroes. We have two beautiful daughters, Gabrielle and Gyllian.  Gabrielle is a Biochemistry B.S. graduate from WVU and is currently in her second year of medical school at WVSOM. Gabrielle plans to move to Morgantown and do her rotations this summer.   Gyllian is a junior at Bridgeport High School.  She is an active participant for BHS cheer and volunteers at numerous local charities.  One that she really enjoyed was “Friends Feeding Friends”.  Gabrielle and Gyllian have both learned to adapt to the new “norm” and are looking forward to better days ahead.

Do you have pets?
We have two cats, Smokey and Chance.  Smokey is an 18 year old Rescue and Chance was adopted from the Harrison Co Humane Society five years ago.

Where do you work?
I work at Bridgeport Express Care as a Registered Radiographer.  I have worked for them since the grand opening in 2009.

What are your favorite hobbies and passtimes?
I love to craft and restore old furniture in my spare time. I love to decorate and plan for parties also.

What is your favorite sport?
Of course my favorite sport is cheer!  We all love to cheer on the Bridgeport Indians and our little cheerleader.

What is your favorite place in Bridgeport?
That would be our back deck. We love to entertain. We love to cook out and do karaoke.

What do you love about Bridgeport?
There are many, many things that I love about Bridgeport.  The parent involvement, local businesses, and the fact that every parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, etc. are here to make sure that every child in this community succeeds.  The kids ALWAYS come first!

What are some special memories of our city?
The day that Bridgeport High School Cheer won the state title was definitely up there on my list of beautiful memories. We also enjoy “Light up Night”, the entire community really shows their support.

What is your favorite place outside of Bridgeport?
My favorite place to be outside of Bridgeport is definitely Lewisburg, WV.  This is where my oldest daughter currently resides.  Not only do I get to spend time with her, but this tiny town is filled with family owned shops and beautiful scenery.

What's your favorite place to visit outside of West Virginia?
We love to go to Florida when we travel.  My family is Harry Potter crazed!

What are some of your favorite things?
My family, friends, and shopping.

Favorite food/restaurant?
My favorite food is French fries well done with ranch and pasta.  My favorite restaurants are Brickside, The Caboose and Olivero’s Restaurant.

Favorite color?
Teal

Favorite music?
I enjoy all genres of music, but I do not “love” the music my teen daughter plays in the car.

What are your favorite childhood memories?
My best childhood memories are those spent with my mother and my Nanny.  My mom and I always went to the Fairmont Mall on Payday and would eat dinner at Sweet Williams.  I loved spending time with my Nan, we would sit on her porch and just swing.  Life was simple and sweet!

What is a fun fact about you?
I excessively decorate for all Holidays.
