City Adds Additional Level of Comfort for Contractors, Residents as Code Enforcement to Carry ID Badges

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 14, 2025

Code enforcement officer from the City of Bridgeport are generally recognizable through their shirts and often their hats and jackets that have a Bridgeport logo on them.

However, with staff going into residential units for various matters such as building permits, code issues, inspections or more, it was determined that an extra level of comfort for residents may be in order. On Wednesday, that new level of comfort was announced.

All code enforcement officers in the city, there are four of them, will have new identification badges on them. City officials are asking anyone who feels slightly unsure about the presence of a code enforcement officer to ask for identification.

Although aimed at residential units, contractors also are able to ask for the extra identification through the new badges as well. In fact, city staff is encouraging it.

Editor's Note: Shown in the photo taken in City Council chambers at the Bridgeport Municipal Complex are, from left, City Manager Patrick Ford and the four individuals who have their code enforcement badges. They are, also from left, Mike Osborn, Jake Griffith, Brian Zannino, and Bob Nowortya. Photo courtesy of the City of Bridgeport.
