City of Bridgeport, The Bridge to Host Adventures in Candy Land

By Julie Perine on September 07, 2022

The popular children’s board game, “Candy Land,” will come to life Saturday, Oct. 15 at The Bridge Sports Complex. The colorful, interactive “Adventures in Candy Land” is hosted by the City of Bridgeport and The Bridge Sports Complex.

“We are excited to announce this new fall event and we are looking for local businesses and community groups to help the event to be a memorable one,” said Amy Callahan, Bridgeport recreation coordinator.

Children ages 3-10 will gather on the grounds of The Bridge at noon, Oct. 15.

“They will stop at the check-in tent to receive their official Candy Land board. Participants will work their way around the paved path, stopping at each station,” Callahan said.

That’s where local businesses and groups come in: organizing and hosting the various stops along the game board.

“Each station should plan on decorations, an activity, and treat (edible or non-edible),” Callahan said.
“Ideally, each station would promote either literacy, fitness/movement, personal safety, or a healthy treat - but this is not a requirement,” Callahan said.

Stations include the Ice Palace, Cupcake Commons, Licorice Lagoon, Lollipop Woods (already reserved), Peppermint Forest, Gummy Hills, Peanut Acres, Gingerbread House, Chocolate Swamp, Ice Cream Slopes, Candy Castle, and home spot - King Kandy.

Opportunity to host is limited and stations will be assigned on a first-come basis. It is anticipated that 150 to 300 children and their families will attend. The city will supply tables and chairs as well as a yard sign for each station with the station name and business or group logo/name.  All sponsoring businesses and organizations will be included on the Candyland board as well as the event flier.

“If you want to be a part of the event but cannot commit to the criteria of hosting a station, please consider the secondary sponsors of volunteering or consider partnering up with another group on a station,” Callahan said.

In case of bad weather, the event will be held inside Citynet Center.
