GFWC Woman's Club, Lions Club, Fire Department to Hold Annual Fall Food Drive

In just over a month, community organizations will combine forces to collect food items and supplies for the Shepherd's Corner outreach program. Beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct, 26, members of the GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport, the Bridgeport Lions Club and Bridgeport Fire Department will drive through Bridgeport neighborhoods to pick up donations.
 
Those who would like to donate are asked to leave items at the end of their driveways or by their mailboxes. Alternatively, items can be dropped off at Bridgeport Fire Department or Bridgeport City Hall during regular business hours the week of Oct. 21-25. Through Shepherd's Corner, the collected items will be distributed to families in need. 
 
Cash donations to purchase meat, butter, bread and milk are also accepted. Check donations can be mailed to: Shepherd's Corner, P.O. Box 101, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
 
Items wishes for are as follows:
 
Nonperishable Food Items
Peanut butter
Jelly or jam
Spaghetti sauce with meat
Canned pasta meals: spaghetti, ravioli, etc.
Canned fruits - especially applesauce
Pasta - spaghtti, noodles, penne, macaroni, etc.
Canned vegetabls: Baked beans, green beans, corn, tomatoes, etc.
Canned milk
Soups
Saltine crackers
Tea bags and coffee
Canned meats: Tuna, chicken, ham, etc.
Boxed potatoes, instant mashed potatoes
Macaroni and cheese, boxed or single serving size
Cereal
Pudding cups and fruit cups
 
Personal Care Items
Shampoo
Bar soap, shower gel or body wash
Toothpaste
Tooth brushes
Deodorant (men's and women's)
Disposable razors
Sanitary napkins or tampons
Diapers for children (especially size 4-6)
Diapers for adults
 
Other Items not Covered by Food Stamps
Laundry detergent
Cleaning supplies
Toilet tissue, Kleenex
