Girl Scouts from Troop 35344 in Bridgeport have been Honored for their Efforts in Community Service

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 05, 2023

Girl Scouts from one local troop have been honored for their hard work to improve the community.

Girl Scout Juniors Izy Reid, Samara Smith, Audra Murray, Nora Martin, Raylee Hawkins, Aurora Mosso, Charlotte Aguilar, Kendall Davis, Natalie Land and Isabella Fragmin from Troop 35344, based out of Harrison County, have each been awarded the Girl Scout Bronze Award for their project "Blessing Box, Kindness Rock Garden and Pollinator House."

The Girl Scouts helped build a Blessing Box filled with food and other items for community members in need as well as painting and creating a rock garden, both of which were installed at the Bridgeport Public Library.

The Pollinator House is a habitat for bees, which the Girl Scouts placed at Bridgeport City Park.

Before earning the awards, the Girl Scouts were responsible for learning information regarding issues they are passionate about. They then implemented a plan of action to make a difference in their community.

“Earning the Bronze Award is a wonderful accomplishment. These Girl Scouts are recipients of this award because of their dedication to and passion for making the world a better place,” said Beth Casey, Chief Executive Officer for the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council.
