Local Teachers Create Customized Gifts in Business Venture Properly Named "Happily Ever Handwriting"

By Trina Runner on July 31, 2020

When most of us purge our material goods, it’s the handmade items that are kept, treasured for the thoughtfulness, the emotions connected to them, and the care it took to make them.

When Harrison County teachers Kolby Alonso and Tiffany Plachta realized their love of making customized products, they created a business called Happily Ever Handwriting in order to share their talents with individuals, families and businesses that are seeking the beauty of handmade items.

The idea came about when the two friends were decorating their classrooms at Robert C. Byrd High School and discovered how much they loved designing unique items customized for their students and subject areas.

They began having design sessions after school and weekends, creating items for holidays, special events and keepsakes. Their time together has created a time in which they can slow down and nurture their friendship while expanding their ideas for creative merchandise to make for clients.

Happily Ever Handwriting started last year and didn’t slow down even after the pandemic hit. The hand-painted holiday ornaments and hand-painted signs and products has added to celebrations such as weddings, classroom decorations, invitations, birthdays, home décor, and graduation parties.

They have also created pieces for baby showers and announcements, bridal showers and nurseries. Their ever-expanding creativity allows them to customize virtually anything for their customers.

“We love to challenge ourselves and try new things,” said Plachta. “One of our favorite creations was a class set of personalized ornaments for a teacher who wanted to be able to decorate her classroom and allow the students to take home a gift as well.”

Their website, www.happilyeverhandwrting.com, features a wide variety of items from which to choose, as does their Facebook page and Instagram page.  Orders can be done through messaging them or online.
