"Megan's Christmas Miracle" Premiere is Wednesday Evening at BUMC; Attendees Can Serve as Extras for Current Film, "A Promise to Astrid"

The much-anticipated premiere of "Megan’s Christmas Miracle” – a JC Films production for which some scenes were shot in Bridgeport – takes place Wednesday evening at Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
The public is invited to the first viewing of the film, which has been purchased by Walmart and hits store shelves Oct. 16.
“Dean Cain will be here and we’re going to do a Red Carpet-type event so people can walk the carpet, get pictures taken and we’ll watch the movie,” said Jason Campbell, president, writer and executive producer for the faith-based JC Films.
With a crowd already gathered, the premiere will double as a scene for “A Promise 
to Astrid," which in recent past weeks has been filmed in Bridgeport and surrounding 
areas.

“Right after the movie, we’re going to film the last scene of ‘A Promise to Astrid’ in which Dean plays the preacher,” Campbell said.
After credits roll for “Megan’s Christmas Miracle,” Cain will say a few words about the film and thereafter the church sanctuary will be transformed into the final scene of “A Promise to Astrid.”
In fact, Campbell said, it will be Astrid’s funeral.
“The choir will take its place and Dean will change into a clergy robe. If people will hang around 15 to 20 minutes, they can be part of that final scene,” Campbell said. “Dean will deliver a short eulogy over Astrid and we’ll film the crowd while he’s doing that.”
The premiere is free to attend and is not a formal event. As the scene being filmed is a funeral scene, black is most appropriate.
"Megan's Christmas Miracle" is about believing in miracles and in the magic of Christmas. It tells the story of a teenage girl, whisked away from the the only life she knew to relocate to a small coal-mining town in West Virginia. Through her struggles, she gives up her passion of dance, but in a nativity display at her church, she finds hope; her life aspirations and faith being restored.
In addition to Cain, the movie stars Brooklyn Nelson and Tim Goodwin, with various other roles; some played by West Virginians and various Bridgeport residents making appearances.
The Red Carpet opens at 5:30 p.m. with the film running at 6:30 p.m. Autograph and photo opps will be held around 8:30 p.m.
"A Promise to Astrid" is also af faith-based film, telling the story of one woman's random acts of kindness, which collectively changed lives and an entire community. The movie is based on a true story written by Michael K. Tourville. Shooting locations have included Ford Funeral Home, Bridgeport Middle School, the Bridgeport High School Homecoming Parade, Bridgeport City Park, Expressions Hair Designs, Preston Memorial Hospital, the Clarksburg Mission and a pair of homes on Johnson Avenue which – in the film – house Astrid and her neighbors, Mike and Cindy.
