Platinum-Selling Rock Band Blue October Coming to Robinson Grand on September 21

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 23, 2023

The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, in partnership with Pennsylvania based Drusky Entertainment, LLC, is bringing Blue October’s Spinning the Truth Around (Part II) Tour to downtown Clarksburg on Thursday, September 21at the historic Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center located at 444 W. Pike St. in Clarksburg.

Rather than lean on destiny for direction, Blue October invents and inhabits a future all their own. The platinum-certified alternative quartet from Houston, TX consistently evolves with an outlier perspective. For their eleventh studio album and first double-LP, “Spinning the Truth Around: Part I & II,” Blue October unlocks another creative renaissance.

The Lone Star State rockers Blue October emerged during the mid-90s, delivering an emotionally charged amalgam of heart-heavy post-grunge and slick modern rock. They found favor in 2006 with platinum-selling fourth long-player “Foiled,” which featured the chart-topping singles “Hate Me,” and “Into the Ocean.”

“We are excited to have a new partner in Drusky Entertainment, and thrilled that our first show together is the award winning Blue October,” said Jason A Young, the Robinson Grand’s program manager. “This show answers the constant call for more diversity on our stage in a great big way.”

The original creative core of Blue October – Justin Furstenfeld (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin, mandolin, piao), and Matt Novesky (bass) – found some new inspiration for their new album “Spinning the Truth Around: Part I & II”, as Justin immersed himself in the work of J Dilla. He wrote at a feverish pace at his own Up/Down Studios in San Marcos. Similar to the early days, the new record is a band collaboration.

“This album is about boundaries and love – selfless love,” Justin said. “You know that even if you did love someone it’s okay if you both fall out of love. It’s the story about a loving relationship that changed, when the world was falling apart. Nobody had a rule book. You don’t have to end a relationship and hate each other. Life is so short. There is love out there.”

Tickets for Blue October’s Spinning the Truth Around (Part II) Tour start at only $42.75, and went on sale to Friends of the Robinson Grand last Saturday. Tickets will be available to the general public at 10 a.m. today.

All tickets can be purchased online at tickets.therobinsongrand.com or by calling the Robinson Grand ticketing center at (855) 773-6283.
