This year’s West Virginia Beef Expo promises to be an excellent event for producers, suppliers, consumers, juniors, and others involved in the beef industry. Several businesses will have their products on display Friday and Saturday and will be willing to discuss their benefits and uses on beef cattle farms. Nearly 150 head of Angus, Charolais, Red Angus, Limousin, Polled Hereford, and Simmental cattle will be on display and offered for sale. Join us at 9 a.m. on Friday for the Polled Hereford Show. At 2 p.m,. the Angus will take to the show ring, followed by Limousin at 3 p.m.
There’s a fantastic opportunity on Friday at 2:30 p.m. for livestock producers and handlers to learn “Effective Stockmanship, Stewardship, and BQA” from the 2023 BQA Educator of the Year, Dr. Tom Noffsinger. The workshop is geared toward youth and adults who work with beef cattle. Dr. Noffsinger is a feedlot consulting veterinarian and an excellent instructor. He is a champion of low-stress cattle handling and will bring his knowledge and skills to West Virginia for this hands-on workshop. Free workshops featuring nationally known educators are rare, so don’t miss this opportunity.
On Saturday, April 12, sales are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with Charolais, followed by Limousin at 10:30 a.m. and Red Angus at 11 a.m. Polled Hereford will have their sale at 11:30 a.m., and Simmental at 12:30 p.m. Angus will close out the sale schedule at 2 p.m. The sales will be broadcast live by DVAuction.com, and you can bid online without having to attend the Beef Expo in person.
