Wreaths Across America Team Bridgeport Nearing Deadline to Order Wreaths for Dec. 17 Ceremony

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 14, 2022

In 2016, Christa Parker brought the Wreaths Across America program to Bridgeport Cemetery. That December, 1086 wreaths were placed on graves of U.S. veterans. Seven years later, the program is going strong with the annual goal to lay a wreath on every veteran’s grave. A month out from the Dec. 17 Wreaths Across America ceremony, 79 more wreaths must be purchased to make this year’s goal of 1,675 wreaths.

The deadline to purchase wreaths is Nov. 28. Purchasers have the option of submitting a veteran’s name which will be called out during the Dec. 17 ceremony.

In addition to donating a remembrance wreath, there are other way to help. Volunteers are needed to help Dec. 17. The ceremony begins at noon. Communiicate with Parker through the Wreaths Across America Team Bridgeport Facebook page.

To order a wreath, visit Wreaths Across America Team Bridgeport HERE. Each wreath is $15.

Parker became involved with Wreaths Across America following the May 2014 death of her son, Private First Class Garrett Parker, who was laid to rest at Bridgeport Cemetery.

Editor's Note: Photo taken during the 2021 Wreaths Across America ceremony at Bridgeort Cemetery is by Joe LaRocca.
