Time Travel: Final Days for Bridgeport Train Depot in 1983 and Sons of Italy Band in Clarksburg in 1924

This the old B&O Depot as it appeared in its last few days as it was in the process of being demolished in 1983. It was located a the railroad crossing on Virginia Avenue and is now the location of Rite Aid. The depot served the community from 1929 until the late 1970s and was demolished shortly thereafter. This was the second depot at the site as the first was built in 1856 and burned in 1929. You can see the Bridgeport Stockyards in the background and that would begin to see demolition the following year.
The Order of Sons of Italy Band in Clarksburg is shown here and was directed by Professor Fran Currado and had 30 musicians. The bands often participated in the parades for presidential candidates. Although a black and white photo, the uniforms were coats that were dark blue and trousers described as gray-blue with red stripes. This band performed on the parade route for Clarksburg resident John W. Davis who was campaiging for the office of President of the United States.
