BHS Graduate, City Business Owner, Jenna Robey, Files for Judge Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Division 3

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 23, 2023

SUBMITTED TO CONNECT-BRIDGEPORT

Harrison County Attorney, Jenna Robey, has announced her candidacy for Judge Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Division 3 after filing for the position in Charleston.

Robey is a 2008 graduate of Marshall University and a 2012 graduate from West Virginia University College of Law. She was born and raised in Harrison County where she still resides with her husband Matt, and their family. She is also a graduate of Bridgeport High School.

Robey believes that it is important to contribute back to a community that has given so much support to her and her family throughout the years and to try and make it a better place for her children and the next generation.

In 2017, Robey opened her private practice, J. Robey Law on East Main Street, with her legal work spanning from estate planning and real estate matters, to abuse and neglect law, which is now nearly 80 percent of her workload.

“Child abuse and neglect is one of the main reasons that I have decided to participate in the election for Circuit Court Judge. I feel it is important to bring awareness to our community about the significant increase in abuse and neglect cases here in Harrison County," said Robey. "When I began my law practice there were, on average, 60 abuse and neglect cases filed each year. Last year there were 233 cases filed.

“Abuse and neglect cases take up more than half of the Harrison County Court’s docket and I feel it is beyond important to ensure that the individuals chosen to preside over these cases have real experience litigating them," Robey continued. "We need to be able to better serve the respondent parents, the children, and the caretakers of these children to ensure that we are making the appropriate resources available to them and that we are educating our community in trying to reduce the overwhelming number of cases here in Harrison County.”

This nonpartisan position will be on the Harrison County ballot for the May 2024 election.

Editor's Note: Jenna Robey and husband Matt are show in the photo at the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office in Charleston.
