Area Man who Owned Multiple Businesses, Veteran of U.S. Army, William Mark Rogers, Passes at Age 89

William Mark Rogers, 89, of Jane Lew passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 20, 2022. William was born in Lewis County on February 20, 1933, son of the late Mark and Jessie (Conner) Rogers. William was united in marriage on November 17, 1953 to the late Alicia Mae (Cooper) Rogers who preceded him in death on October 17, 2016. Together they shared a loving 62 years of marriage.
 
Cherishing the life of William are 3 daughters: Cynthia Ann VanDyke and Susan Lynn Rogers both of Morgantown, WV and Beverly Kay Rogers of Buckhannon, WV, 1 son: William Mark Rogers II of Jane Lew, WV, 9 grandchildren: Teri Dalton, Mark VanDyke, Kristen Davis, Brian Poleway, Megan Fitch, Sean Fitch, Braunson Rogers, Rhiannon Rogers, and Skylar Gullo, and 6 great grandchildren: Paige, Wyatt, Kylie, Lacey, Olivia and Sophia.
 
In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by a daughter Sondra Lea Poleway and a brother Robert C. Rogers.
 
William was a graduate of Weston High School class of 1951. He furthered his education at West Virginia University and graduated from the school of business in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army where he was a Captain. William was an entrepreneur all his life. He owned businesses in Lewis County from 1955 to present including Rogers Motor Company, Rogers Oil Company and the Quality Inn. He retired at the age of 55 and he and his beloved wife Alicia resided in Marco Island, Florida for years until illness brought him back home to Lewis County. William was a member of the NRA and a board member of the United National Bank. He had a passion for golf, hunting, fishing, and traveling the United States with his wife.
 
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 11AM-1PM. The funeral service will begin at 1PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mark Evans officiating. Interment will follow services at Lewis County Memorial Gardens in Weston. Online condolences and life stories in memory of William may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
