BHS DECA Students Fare Well at State Conference as Six Student Qualify for International Event in Florida

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on March 22, 2025

The Bridgeport High School DECA participated in the West Virginia State Career Development Conference on Sunday, March 9, and Monday, March 10.

Fourteen students participated in the two-day conference, which included competing in a variety of business events. Two students competed in individual series events and 12 students chose to pair up for team decision making events.

All students were tasked with participating in a role play scenario designed to test understanding of the career cluster chosen. Tasks were presented in front of a pair of judges with a very limited amount of time to review scenario and design a solution (10-20 minutes). Scores were based on students ability to convey their understanding of the targeted performance indicators through the presentation. These role play scores were combined with a written test score (test given prior to conference) for a final overall score that would determine rankings at the state level. First and second place winners are invited to participate at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Fla., next month.

Bridgeport High School Deca received a collective eight medals at the West Virginia CDC with six students qualifying for ICDC. The students are listed below:
  • Lance Pitrolo-1st place, Principals of Entrepreneurship
  • Chloe Marsh- 2nd place, Apparel and Accessories Marketing Series Event
