Bridgeport Police Hope Public Can Aid in Identifying Man Wanted for Recent Meadowbrook Mall Shoplifting

By Jeff Toquinto on July 31, 2020

The Bridgeport Police Department is hoping the public can assist in locating a man wanted for shoplifting recently at the Meadowbrook Mall.

Bridgeport Police Detective D.B. Stallman said the incident took place on July 22. The shoplifting occurred in JCPenney.

According to Stallman, the value of the merchandise stolen was $400, which would make the crime a misdemeanor. However, if the suspect is identified and has two or more previous shoplifting convictions it would be a felony charge.

“The suspect actually fled the scene,” said Stallman. “Another customer saw him and began chasing him.”

Based on the description provided by the customer that chased him and from surveillance video police were able to view, the man was a white male, approximately 6’3 and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt, khaki style shorts, and a black face mask.

“Unfortunately, the Coronavirus is not helping in the ability to identify individuals because most have a facemask on,” said Stallman.

If anyone can identify the individual or knows anything about the case, they can contact Stallman at 304-848-6148. If he does not answer, individuals can leave a message. Also, he can be reached via email at dstallman@bridgeportwv.com.

“Without the public we couldn’t be able to identify some of these individuals. We greatly appreciate the public for helping and stepping up to assist in these cases,” said Stallman.

Stallman said the video images of the suspect are from surveillance of the individual in Marshalls. That store's loss prevention officer said the suspect did not take any items from Marshalls.
