Bridgeport Woman who was Area Business Proprietor, Cassandra "Cassie" Duncan, Passes at Age of 80

Cassandra "Cassie" Duncan, aged 80, of Bridgeport, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, following an extended illness. She was born on June 26, 1944, in Clarksburg, as the daughter of the late Edgar McDougal and late Catherine McDougal.
 
Cassie was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Duncan, in 2021.
 
Surviving her are two children: Lori Montiverdi and her husband Michael of Barre, MA, and Timothy Duncan and his wife Rebecca of Greenwood, SC. She is also remembered by her five grandchildren: Kelseigh Kreider and her husband Logan of PA, Izabella Montiverdi, and Dante Montiverdi of MA, as well as Alex and Katelyn Duncan of SC, along with several nieces and nephews. Her sister, Judith Siders, and brother, Edgar McDougal, also survive her.
 
A graduate of Washington-Irving High School in 1962, Cassandra later completed her education at West Virginia Business College. She held various secretarial and managerial roles in different organizations before establishing herself as the proprietor of West Virginia Memorial Company.
 
A devout member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, Cassandra Duncan's memory may be honored through donations to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Permanent Fund at 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330, or to a charity of choice.
Expressions of sympathy for the Duncan family can be shared at burnsidefuneralhome.com.
 
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Burnside Funeral Home, located at 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, commencing at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jim Lang. Following the service, interment will take place at Bridgeport Cemetery.
