Brynn Radabaugh and Phoenix Sickles are the March 2025 Bridgeport High School Students of the Month

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 13, 2025

Bridgeport High School Principal Renee' Mathews has announced that Brynn Radabaugh and Phoenix Sickles are the March, 2025 Students of the Month. Below is a profile of each student.

Brynn is a senior at Bridgeport High School and is proud to be named student of the month.

She has taken several honors and A/P classes including: Honors English, A/P Language, Honors/A/P Chemistry, A/P Literature and A/P Calculus AB.  She is a member of the BHS Honor Roll, Quiz Bowl, Science Bowl, Choir and Chamber Choir.

She has been involved in several Bridgeport High theatre productions.  She has played: Violet in 9 to 5, Lefou in BATB; Amos, the circus ringmaster in Big Fish; Mr. Sugar in Deep Thoughts, Dark Skies, Tough City; A Lead Oompa Loompa in Willy Wonka; served as Assistant Director of Bright Star; and a member of the Tech Crew for Mary Poppins.

She is an inducted member of Thespian Troupe 7549 and has competed at the Regional & State Thespian Festivals and won Outstanding Shakespearean Performance, Outstanding Group Acting Thespy and Outstanding Acting duet Thespy.  Brynn has also acted with the API API Theatre Troupe in Clarksburg and has starred in: One Stop Light Town, Stories Gone Wilde and Law & Order-Fairy Tale Unit.

Brynn’s very proud parents are Jeff and Amy Radabaugh.

Brynn enjoys playing acoustic and electric guitar and takes vocal lessons with Pam Krall. She is excited to attend WVU next year and has been awarded the Climb Higher Scholarship.

Brynn plans to major in Forensic Science.

Phoenix Sickles, a Senior at Bridgeport High School (BHS), is the son of Russell Sickles and Becky Hutchinson. His sister, Violet Sickles, is a recent 2022 Alumna, and his brother, Bodhi Sickles is currently a Freshman at BHS. His grandparents, Doyle and Beth Sickles are also BHS Alumni.

Phoenix has played on the BHS Basketball Team all four years of his BHS career. In addition to recently helping his team win the 2025 WV AAA State Championship, he was selected as a member of the AAA All-Tournament Team and honored to be chosen as the MVP! Closer to home, Phoenix was also a first-team selection for the All-Big 10 Conference Team. This season, he took pride in being a co-captain of the BHS varsity team and in being a part of a great group of teammates and coaches.

Along with his basketball achievements, Phoenix also thrives in his BHS education. Throughout his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, he has taken one Honor class and four AP courses. His favorites have been his AP Government courses. He works hard to achieve good grades and receive his Academic Letter and Lamps. But, most importantly, Phoenix loves to learn and explore his possible options beyond High School.

Phoenix volunteers in the community by helping deliver food to a Church Backpack program that provides food to kids in need. He has also volunteered to help his basketball coaches and mentors at community basketball clinics for younger kids. It was especially fun, knowing how much these clinics helped him when he attended these same camps when he was younger.

Still undecided about his future after High School, Phoenix is keeping his options open with the ultimate goal to attend college and study in a STEM-related field, such as engineering. He is currently looking into the possibility of playing basketball in college or attending a prep school to further his basketball career, with hopes to eventually play basketball in college, while working toward his long-term career goals.

Living in Bridgeport, Phoenix is appreciative not only of his family, friends and community of support, but especially of the faculty and staff at BHS for providing him with the opportunity to learn and be prepared for so many opportunities out in the real world.
