City Fire Department among Agencies at I-79 Wreck Involving Several Vehicles after Car Goes Wrong Way

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on March 12, 2025

Accodring to WDTV, a car going the wrong direction on Interestate 79 Monday afternoon in Bridgeport caused multiple accidents, according to Harrison County 911 officials.

The vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and caused multiple accidents between the Anmoore and Meadowbrook Mall exits.

Two people have been transported to the hospital with injuries, 911 officials said. Authorities stopped the vehicle in question, which eventually led to multiple northbound lanes between the Anmoore and Meadowbrook Mall exits are currently shut down while crews clean up the accidents.

The accident caused traffic delays for nearly an hour after it was reported at 1:50 p.m. The Bridgeport Fire Department was one of the agencies on the scene.

West Virginia State Police is handling the investigation. At least one person was injured and transported, but there were no life-threatening injuries.
