Clarksburg Man who was Long-Time Pastor in Area, Robert R. Ringer, Passes Away at Age of 79

Pastor Robert R. Ringer, 79, of Clarksburg, went to be with the Lord at 8:10pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Terra Alta, December 25, 1942, a son of the late Elmer Roy and Freda Blanch Grimm Ringer. On July 13, 1963, he married Carolyn Sue Hartsell Ringer who survives.
 
Also surviving are three children, Tamra Ringer, Gaithersburg, MD, Deborah Stewart and her husband Adam, Greenville, SC, and Robert Ringer, Jr. and his wife Susan, Bruceton Mills. Pastor Ringer had seven grandchildren, Joshua Greaser, Maria Smith, Shelby Ferrell, Nate Ferrell, Violet Stewart, Silas Ringer, and Delilah Ringer; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic Smith and Dylan Dirende; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Ringer.
 
Pastor Ringer was the pastor of the Shinnston Church of the Nazarene for 17 years, as well as many other churches throughout the area. He retired from the Preston County Board of Education where he worked as an electrician. He enjoyed working with honeybees and could fix anything. He loved hunting and camping in luxury. Robert was a loving husband and father who will be sadly missed.
 
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 5-8pm, Wednesday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, May 26th, with Rev. Kevin Dennis officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com.
