Clarksburg's Andrew Givens is Recipient of First-Ever NCWV Airport Passenger of the Year Award

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 03, 2024

During last month’s Benedum Airport Authority meeting, North Central West Virginia Airport Director Rick Rock presented the first-ever Top Passenger Award, a recognition Rock said will likely be given annually.

During the August 20 meeting, Clarksburg’s Andrew Givens was recognized with the honor by Rock in front of the Authority, which is the airport’s governing body.

“This year alone, through June 30, he had more than 30 flights and there is a lot more time for flights so we expect that number to rise,” Rock said of Givens. “Without our passengers, we’re nothing and Andrew embodies what we’re looking for from our local community in a person who wants to fly and take advantage of what we have to offer.”

Givens uses the Allegiant flights for destination trips. He also utilizes the daily jet service to Charlotte Douglass-International Airport through Contour.

“I can leave early in the morning for my work and be at a business meeting in Charlotte by 11 a.m.,” said Givens after being presented with a certificate of recognition.

The flight to Charlotte also allows individuals to make connections to nearly any destination globally. It is the second largest hub on the east coast.

“To have someone within our community to utilize this airport as much as he has as well as being a good ambassador for us and the other passengers in praising the service, is important,” said Rock. “He basically uses every service that we have.”

Editor's Note: Andrew Givens, left, addresses the Airport Authority after being recognized as the Passenger of the Year. NCWV Airport Director Rick Rock looks on.
